Inconvenient truth … about smartphones part 2

After writing up my last entry I had a lot of co Mio users telling me that they didn’t face the problems I had, so I decided to give the thing another go. I flashed it with the latest R65 firmware and reinstalled the original Mio GPS software, and stopped right there !

And what do you know…
The thing actually worked as designed.
It had the 2 second bug, which is a known issue, but liveable,
the main issue was the Pocket Informant 2007 I had installed (15 days trial) it just didn’t do what it should do. Mainly function (alright at that point ofcourse), and keep my phone stable !!

After some discussions with fellow owners it seems that everybody starts using some third party software and the phone becomes a mess. After clearing out all software it just works !

Big hint if you ask me !

So to sum up my last entry, I think the main issue is nr 4: There is no list of actually ‘tested and won’t break your shit’ software around for every possible device !

Since I am really a impulsive buyer I already replaced the Mio with a Sony Ericsson K750i (red edition), which works fine also, and has a longer battery life. So now I’ll just have to look for a decent GPS that is women-friendly in usage (new criteria added since the Mio)
