Cell phone - mania

e65

I do seem to have a thing with gadgets and cell phones…

Although I’m pretty sure I’m really not interested in cell phones what so ever, I do find myself
buying another one very often lately.

Quick sum up of the last, say 6 months …

Mio A701
- Pretty good explanations can be given for this handy for the dislike afterwards

Sony K750i
- Really good phone, although I do miss some of the more pocket-pc / smartphone related features like wifi (calling with fring or skype when at home, checking mail from anywhere)

And after reading some good reviews,
All About Symbian
Tweakers.net (in dutch)

and looking in to the images / dimensions given on the nokia site I decided this could be a really good phone for me overall.

Doesn’t look like a lunch box when holding it, relatively small screen but hey
- no lunch box look !
Wifi / Bluetooth / Symbian Os with possibility to add TomTom etc …

Looks really well..

I just hope that I don’t get scammed by the Turkishly-named German selling me the phone on eBay ;)

Will keep you posted on that part !

I just don’t get it lately, every time I decide to buy the phone that fits my needs, is affordable (?) I seem to miss out on another one that pops up after a few months (weeks).

How did we do it some years ago I dare to wondered, so below is a brief overview of the cells I had in the past / now…

c25

Just imagine that (only) 8 years ago I started with a Siemens C60 which was a great phone at the time (at that time any phone that could hold a sim on its own, without the surrounding card, was darn cute)

The phone worked well, only sms messages were received by number, so no name lookup in the adress book when receiving an sms…

This got replaced after +/- 2 years by a Nokia 3310.

This phone did its job perfectly, but the battery died rather soon. (1year)
The 3310 model however can still be found, my mother in law still owns and uses one !

samsung r225

Than I went for a Samsung R225.
This phone had a blue backlight (wow factor 10) and poly-ringtones that became annoying and a calendar function !

This one got replaced by a Siemens C60 within a year (present from my girlfriend/wife)

This was the first handy I owned with full colour display, the battery sucked, the lack of calendar functions was troublesome, it collected dust like no other phone and finally died in an accident involving water ;) and no, not on the toilet.

Then came another really good phone, the Nokia 6610i Good sound quality, first one (for me) with a camera on board. I don’t think I ever took a picture with it now that I think of it. My mom is still using this phone, and liking it too ! Good battery life, overall one of the best phones so far.

Welcome gadgets-era below :s

I replaced my Nokia 6610i with a Mio A701, a pocket pc / gps / cell phone, on which I already spilled to much energy… I could only cope with if for 6 months, although my co-worker who re-installed it seems to be doing just fine, so maybe its just me…

After the Mio A701 came my current phone, the Sony Ericsson K750i, which is truly an amazing phone, alas without wifi and the other geeky stuff which I think I need (own it for 3 months now) … And so there comes the new one …
