Brackets on an Azerty mac keyboard

If you own an azerty mac keyboard you must have noticed the lack of the following keys:
\ { } [ ]
Quick tip:
\ = alt + shift + /
{ = alt + (
} = alt + )
[ = alt + shift + (
] = alt + shift + )
Just so I don’t have to tell this over and over again to the new adopters…

Real developers off course, don’t use AZERTY layouts :p. AZERTY may be allright for secretaries but not for coders…
den ben…. Why?… can you give some rational explanation based on scientific facts? What makes Qwerty users superior to Azerty users?….
PS: Real developpers started to code on C64
I agree with kollzak, AZERTY and QWERTY are just a matter of personal preference. I’m a coder and use an AZERTY keyboard like most of my co-workers.

Not “just” personnal preference. Habit, most likely. Considering that few bother, we are effectively locked in whatever is the default keyboard in our locale.
QWERTY is of course slightly superior for programming: the paired symbols are next to each other, and do not require us to use the AltGr key with the same hand. The only disadvantages I can think of is having the numbers in direct access, hiding the corresponding symbols, and the absence of diatrics (which don’t matter for programming anyway).
But why dont you use Dvorak? It leaves good old qwerty derivatives in the dust. Oh, I forgot: habit. By the way I am currently using a fr-dvorak-bépo keyboard (a french derivation of the dvorak layout).

I can not get it to work, can you explain how you do it ?
e.g. alt + shift + ) : when I’m in photoshop and my brush is active, instead of increasing the brush size the eyedropper tool becomes active.
Help !
you can add the pipe symbol to the list :
| = alt + shift + L
“I’m a coder and use an AZERTY keyboard like most of my co-workers.”
How much is it true?
