Error creating smart device apps in vs2005

For some unknown reason following error message can appear after creating/building/reopening your solution in vs2005 upon a build:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.Common.targets(1616,9): error MSB4018: The "GenerateResource" task failed unexpectedly.

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.Common.targets(1616,9): error MSB4018: System.InvalidOperationException: Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute.

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.Common.targets(1616,9): error MSB4018: at Microsoft.Build.Shared.ExceptionHandling.RethrowUnlessFileIO(Exception e)

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.Common.targets(1616,9): error MSB4018: at Microsoft.Build.Tasks.GenerateResource.NeedSeparateAppDomain()

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.Common.targets(1616,9): error MSB4018: at Microsoft.Build.Tasks.GenerateResource.Execute()

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.Common.targets(1616,9): error MSB4018: at Microsoft.Build.BuildEngine.TaskEngine.ExecuteTask(ExecutionMode howToExecuteTask, Hashtable projectItemsAvailableToTask, BuildPropertyGroup projectPropertiesAvailableToTask, Boolean& taskClassWasFound)

The 'work around' at the moment is the following:

Edit your project file and add this to the first PropertyGroup:

true

Rebuild and voila !

Flashing a mio a701

mioA701

Since I bought my Mio in the dutch version, and still with the original rom (r45) I just had to give it a try.

(pictures will follow shortly)

So here is how you do it (with succes mind you)

download an updated rom (i took the r55 WorldWideEnglish one) with some sw improvements

Download:...

http://rapidshare.de/files/26383654/WINCEIMG.ZIP.html

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S3KUZZ74

http://www.cafejapan.co.uk/MioA701R55.zip

http://www.sendspace.com/file/bsa3zk

After this copy it to your storage card root directory and make sure you have 60 mb of free space on your card.
Now take a last look at your device (you never know

) and check that your batteries are full.

Disconnect the usb wire (if connected) and shut down your device.

Push and hold the volume up, navigation down (the d pad down, the circle with metal border)
then hit the reset button while still holding the other two.
Now you can let go of the other 2 buttons.

You will now see a menu. (your stick won't be working now, so use your d-pad controls)

select
0 - FlashROM Upgrade.
than
6 - Total img By SD/MMC.

then it will start updating. first some reading - checksum - flashing - and then it will go back to its menu.
Do not reset it while in this process !!!
after the update is complete just use the return option and in the initial menu choose watchdog reset...

You're done and now your load screen will give following number
r54.3.101.0428.1

On your first use the Mio Map v2.0 installer will start (if you had this package ofcourse)

There ya go...

Installing windows on a SATA drive without a floppy drive

windowsLogo

..or "How to do a Slipstream Install of Windows"

(coming from: Jef Keys Blog)

As already mentioned below, I own a Shuttle Backbone. Looks great, but no FDD. I refuse. If Vista-era Windows doesn't support non-floppy F6 installs I will switch to whatever the anti-M$FT Windoze dopes are using.

The only reliable way I could find to get the SATA drivers installed without a floppy was to do a slipstream install (The drivers from the F6 floppy are slipstreamed into the Windows install CD and the drives are automagically recognized during setup.
).

Finding the right information took far too long, so bookmark this page. Here's the information you need:

Slipstreaming VIA Serial ATA drivers

Creating a bootable Windows CD with Nero (The first and second screenshots were most valuable. I didn't bother with the rest.)

Good luck!

Ps: although I looked through many more sites during my making of the Unattented Windows Installer Disc, this blog entry was the most usefull of them all...

You could take this a step further and start making a completely automated install.

Guides:

http://unattended.msfn.org/

Then you can use nlite to merge in all the current windows patches by grabbing RyanVM's update pack:

http://ryanvm.msfn.org/

And then you can take it another step by including all the drivers for all SATA drivers so the next time you get a new computer you won't have to worry about drivers either. More information at:

http://www.btsunattended.net/

Bashrat has made driver packs for pretty much everything (graphic cards, network cards, sound cards, motherboard chipsets, mass storage, etc)
